On December 13, Lenovo and AMD jointly held the "Heterogeneous Intelligent Computing, Stable and Efficient-Lenovo Computing Infrastructure New Product Launch Conference". At this conference, Lenovo launched 8 server products based on the fifth-generation AMD EPYC processor-Lenovo Wentian, ThinkSystem V3 series server product family and a new ThinkSystem AMD tower server. The two parties worked together to accelerate the rapid development of China's AI computing infrastructure and meet the needs of intelligent transformation in thousands of industries.
Lenovo's server product family based on the fifth-generation AMD EPYC processor was launched
Lenovo Group Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo China Infrastructure Business Group Chen Zhenkuan, AMD Senior Vice President and President of Greater China Pan Xiaoming and other leaders attended the conference and delivered speeches. Zhou Tao, General Manager of the Server Product Department of Lenovo China Infrastructure Business Group, and Sun Haitao, Director of AMD Technical Support, also shared and introduced the Lenovo server product family and the fifth-generation AMD EPYC™ processor platform.
Lenovo joins hands with AMD to build a computing power engine for customers
The explosive growth in computing power demand has driven the accelerated expansion of computing power supply equipment such as servers. Comprehensive computing power manufacturers will also usher in opportunities brought by the growth of the computing power market. IDC's "China x86 Server Market Report for the Second Quarter of 2024" shows that Lenovo continued to maintain a high-speed growth trend in the second quarter of 2024, with revenue increasing by 215% year-on-year, and its share in the first half of the year increased to 11.3%, ranking among the top three in the Chinese market. This also means that Lenovo's computing power infrastructure has further consolidated its dominant position in the "first camp" in the domestic market.
The achievement of excellent results is inseparable from Lenovo's cutting-edge intelligent layout and strong product strength, and even more inseparable from the cooperation and support of ecological partners. As a global strategic partner, Lenovo and AMD have a history of cooperation for more than 20 years. Since 2019, Lenovo has launched the new ThinkSystem series AMD server family based on the second-generation AMD EPYC™ processor platform, while seamlessly supporting the third-generation AMD EPYC™ processor. By 2022, Lenovo released the ThinkSystemV3 series server based on the fourth-generation AMD EPYC™ processor. The Lenovo Wentian and ThinkSystemV3 series server product families based on the fifth-generation AMD EPYC™ processor released this time have demonstrated the determination and efforts of both parties to continue to create innovative technologies and products. In recent years, the two parties have jointly achieved historical breakthroughs in many industries such as Internet, finance, manufacturing, education, and energy, jointly helped accelerate the transformation of local government and enterprises to intelligence.
Chen Zhenkuan, Vice President of Lenovo Group and General Manager of Lenovo China Infrastructure Business Group, said: "The advent of the intelligent era has injected stronger momentum into the development of computing power, and gradually developed towards diversified scenarios such as general computing power, scientific computing power, and intelligent computing power. Faced with the complexity of heterogeneous system integration and the challenges of collaborative computing, Lenovo cannot do without the cooperation of important partners like AMD. From the past to the future, the two parties will continue to work closely together, constantly break through and innovate in the process of enabling the intelligent transformation of the industry, and help thousands of industries to jointly open the AI 2.0 era."
Servers based on the fifth-generation AMD EPYC processor are more powerful, smarter, and more energy-efficient
At this press conference, Lenovo launched 8 products based on the fifth-generation AMD EPYC™ processor-Lenovo Wentian, ThinkSystemV3 series server product family and a new ThinkSystemAMD tower server.
Zhou Tao, general manager of the server product department of Lenovo China Infrastructure Business Group, introduced that the new generation of Lenovo servers are embedded with three intelligent engines: in terms of performance, the memory bandwidth of the new generation of servers has increased by 33%, the performance in cloud server application scenarios has increased by 17%, and the performance in HPC and AI scenarios can be increased by up to 37%; in terms of intelligence, the performance of AI workloads has doubled, and the deployment of Lenovo Wanquan Heterogeneous Intelligent Computing Platform has broken through the bottleneck of computing efficiency, equipped with LenovoAIOps system management intelligent engine, intelligent early warning and avoidance, and the number of component failures has been reduced to 50%; in terms of energy saving, Lenovo Wentian Poseidon liquid cooling solution makes PUE lower than 1.1, and uses intelligent perception power management system, precise dynamic regulation, reduce power consumption, and fully release "green potential".
Lenovo Wentian WA7785a G3 focuses on three major directions: AI computing power optimization, flexible configuration, and energy saving and efficiency. Lenovo Wentian WA7785a G3 can be equipped with 2 AMD Genoa/Turin CPUs and 8 AMDGPUs, with powerful AI computing power and extremely high scalability. In terms of energy saving, it adopts independent air duct design and intelligent heat dissipation control. High performance, high scalability and low energy consumption make it a wise choice for large model training and promotion servers.
